Transition

Transition period needs to be carefully managed. If a child struggles with a transition it can have a negative impact on their well-being and academic achievement.

During any transition period, it is important that children are able to talk about their concerns and are supported to cope with any re-adjustments. Some children may need more support than others, therefore starting early with talks about transition will be very beneficial for them.

The Pathfield School Transition Events support the parents/carers of pupils from Year 9 and above, helping families to prepare their young people for the future and to find out what transition involves. Thank you to all participants that took part in our last transition days. Please find below all supporting documents and leaflets that might be of interest to you. Should you have any questions or need to discuss your child’s transition further, please contact our Family Liaison Sharon Facey.

The platform Devon – Your Futures has been created to ensure young people educated in special schools or those that have an EHCP can access careers information relevant to their needs. Every SEND student and their parents/carers should have access to good quality information about future study options, labour market opportunities and the Local Offer. The Devon – Your Futures site aims to offer this information in an accessible and easy format.
