Governors Statement of Admissions

Pathfield is a school for children with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders.

Criteria for Admission

Students are considered for admission to Pathfield on the basis of the following criteria, providing they have a full Statement of Educational Need or a Education Health & Care Plan:

  • Severe Learning Difficulties (S.L.D.)
  • Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (P.M.L.D.)
  • Sensory Deprivation if accompanied by S.L.D.
  • Physical Disability if accompanied by S.L.D.
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder if accompanied by S.L.D.

Age Limits

Pupils are welcome at Pathfield from the ages of 3 to 19.  Parents and pupils begin consideration for Post 16 provision at a person centered transition review in year 9. The options for various specialist colleges and courses, Pathfield Post 16 provision and adult services are explored early with staff including Careers South West.

Before admission, parents will need to fill in the necessary forms, providing information regarding their child’s medical needs and an address and telephone phone number for emergencies.  If you wish, the school office will be happy to give guidance on the filling in of these forms.
