Rosemary joined as an Associate Member in 2016 and then filled the vacancy for Foundation Governor in 2017.  Rosemary moved to Devon (Combe Martin) in 1984 with 3 small children, prior to that had nursed in London and West Yorkshire and was a Health Visitor in Calderdale. Having worked with Pathfield for 30 years through her time as a Lecturer at North Devon College (Petroc) supporting students on Health & Social Care courses at Pathfield, enabling them to learn from the good practice which was apparent in Pathfield School.  Rosemary, who has just adopted a rescue puppy called 'Herbie' also volunteers as a tour guide at Little Bridge House & is part of the Young Ambassador training scheme for Children's Hospice South West.  Quote from Rosemary: " I really believe that ideas are much easier to take on board if you actually use them in a practical way."

Marc has a son at Pathfield School and therefore welcomed the opportunity to be a parent governor and serve on the Personnel & Pay Committee. He feels he has a lot of skills to offer, and until June 2015 Marc ran a charity, in the Midlands, supporting carers and children with disabilities and additional needs

Originally from Worthing in West Sussex, Marc moved to Devon in 2015 from the West Midlands. Now a full time carer, Marc says he has been impressed at the support his son and family have received from Pathfield School. He therefore wants, as a governor to keep supporting, encouraging and pushing the staff at Pathfield to strive to make a difference and the best they can be. 

Marc is also a Parent Governor for the Holsworthy Federation.

Claire is the headteacher at Pathfield School, a position she has held since 2009. Born and raised in Barnstaple, Claire studied Special Education at King Alfred’s College in Winchester before taking up her first teaching post in a SLD school in Honiton, Devon in September 1984. She began teaching at Pathfield School in the primary department before being promoted to Deputy Head in 2003. Claire values the sense of fun in learning and believes that with a positive intervention, to encourage engagement, pupils will achieve their potential and successfully overcome barriers. In her spare time Claire enjoys active days on the beach, walking her dog or spending time in her craft room.

Vanessa who is a foundation governor at Pathfield School and is the Chair of the Finance & Buildings Committee. She has been a governor for over 20 years, and has lived in Devon all her life. As a governor, Vanessa enjoys watching the school grow - as when Vanessa first started, the school held only 65 pupils. In Vanessa’s spare time she enjoys music, opera, books and wine and is a member of the Braunton Target Shooting Club.

Sally is a parent governor at Pathfield School.  She originally became a governor in 2010, but had a two year break, before returning to the Governing Body in 2016.  Sally's son was a pupil at Pathfield; and she says he thrived in the inspirational environment of the school.  As a teacher, Sally returned to Devon 27-years ago to teach in Braunton.  She enjoys being a parent governor as she likes being part of the school's development.  Sally is also on the committee of the North Devon Forum for Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHA.

Jo joined the governing body in order to have a better understanding of the school as a whole and to contribute to the pupils' achievements.  Having lived in Devon all her life, Jo has worked at Pathfield School since 1995 and brings with her a wealth of experience.

Natalie has joined the governing body has a Staff Governor. She is new to the post having started at Pathfield School in September 2017 as a Class Teacher, having recently moved to North Devon. Natalie nominated herself as Staff Governor she is looking for to being able to make contributions to whole school policy and practice, whilst ensuring that staff opinions are shared.

Nicki Palmer - Governor
Nicki has joined the governing body as a Parent Governor, originally from Buckinghamshire she moved to Devon in 2011. Nicki currently works part-time as an administrator and is looking forward to being a governor at the Pathfield school. Nicki is keen to learn more about the school and getting to know the staff better and have an understanding of how the school runs.

Geoff continues to carry out all of the duties of a vicar within the Church of England for example, conducting Sunday church services, baptisms, funerals, weddings, pastoral visits and support; all voluntary. He spent the first 34 years of his life in Wales before moving to North Devon in 1984. He was the chaplain at Little Bridge House Children's Hospice and linked with Pathfield School during this time. When he retired in 2013 he continued to attend specific school events and was asked if he would be prepared to serve as a Governor, which  he did not hesitate to accept. 

"I consider Pathfield to be an amazing school and the entire staff team, its pupils and their families are so very special. My role as governor allows me to make a small contribution to school life. As a governor I both see and hear about the very real progress which so many of the children make. I witness the fun, commitment, energy and excitement which is in clear evidence on a day to day basis. I value and enjoy being a governor."

Jo Boydd : Clerk to the Governors

 Jo Boyd

Jo is clerk to the governors and has been clerk since 2010. Jo is a parent of a pupil at the school and is also the secretary of the school PTFA. She is originally from Nottingham, but has now lived in Devon since 2000. Jo really enjoys being a part of the school and the governing body; and enjoys having an understanding of how the school functions.
